History of the USA

Europe has been leader from the USA for a long time, but after the second worldwar USA got independent and prosperous. Now it's the richest country in the world.

I’m going to tell you something about the history of woman, because I think that’s important for the world and everybody has to know something about it.

Woman suffrage in the United States was reached slowly, during the 19th century and early 20th century. "The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex."

Effie Hobby remembers the first time at age 23 that she had the right to vote. She first casted her vote when the presidential election was between Republican Warren G. Effie voted for Harding, who won and became the 29th American president. Many women that year were able to participate in something so monumental. One woman, Catherine Lewis told a newpaper that her father was so proud this was the first time women could vote and she was able to be part of it.
